The module is built to integrate seamlessly with smaller geothermal/ground-source heat pumps from NIBE’s S-series network, such as the top-performing NIBE S1256-8 (up to 8 kW).

Natural cooling relief with minimal power consumption
The NIBE PCM S40 utilizes the clever mechanics of passive cooling (also referred to as free cooling). The system harvests cooling energy entirely naturally from the low temperatures stored within the ground collector fluid or borehole groundwater. This chilled energy is then routed through the module directly into your home's existing underfloor heating circuits. Because the cooling is distributed evenly across the floor footprint, it establishes a draft-free, silent, and highly comfortable room cooling cycle. Since the main compressor does not need to activate during cooling cycles, the module consumes very little electricity, ensuring exceptionally low running costs.

Smart automation and complete home integration
Operating as an integrated part of NIBE’s intelligent S-series infrastructure, all adjustments are handled completely automatically. You can effortlessly manage and monitor the cooling functions directly via the heat pump’s built-in touchscreen or remotely on a smartphone or tablet using the myUplink app. When outdoor temperatures rise above a preconfigured setting, cooling activates automatically and is precisely modulated via a smart cooling curve. Housed underneath a clean outer casing, the package contains all vital operational parts, including an integrated circulation pump and a heavy-duty heat exchanger optimized for underfloor applications.
