PRK plastic pipe fittings are a reliable, proven, and standard solution for joining and connecting polyethylene pipes in both underground and building installations. Our range includes straight couplings, elbows, tees, reducers, and adapters with internal or external threads, as well as essential accessories such as compression nuts and support inserts. The fittings are manufactured from dezincification-resistant brass and feature robust compression nuts, ensuring a mechanically strong, pressure-tight connection—even under demanding conditions.
These fittings are primarily used for incoming cold water lines, municipal service connections, irrigation systems, and pump suction lines. Their well-engineered design allows for quick and easy installation, with no special tools required. Choosing PRK ensures a long service life and maximum leak-tightness in underground piping systems, where safety and operational reliability are the top priorities.
Advantages of PRK Plastic Pipe Fittings
For a long time, PRK fittings have been the go-to choice for professional installers and property owners when working with pressurized plastic water lines. Their design creates a pull-resistant, completely sealed connection capable of withstanding ground settlement and temperature fluctuations over time. Tensile-resistant and pressure-tight mechanical coupling designed for underground installation
- Dezincification-resistant brass for maximum corrosion protection
- Simple installation—no heat tools or specialized machinery required
- Dismountable design, facilitating future maintenance and system modifications
- Versatile system featuring couplings, threaded adapters, and reducers for all pipe dimensions
Typical applications
PRK couplings are designed for polyethylene pipes (both PE and PEM) and cover a wide range of underground and water/sewage (W&S) applications:
- Incoming water mains and service lines connecting municipal networks to properties
- Suction and pressure lines for deep-drilled wells, pressure tanks (hydrophores), and pumps
- Underground main lines for seasonal water supply, garden irrigation, and agricultural use
- Repairing or joining existing PEM pipes in the event of damage or during pipe routing
Important considerations before selection and purchase
To ensure a high-quality, reliable piping installation, keep the following key factors in mind before placing your order:
- Pipe dimension: Carefully measure the pipe's outer diameter to ensure the coupling and compression nut match the pipe exactly. Common dimensions include 16, 20, 25, 32, 40, 50, and 63 mm.
- Use of an internal support sleeve (insert): When installing on soft or thin-walled polyethylene pipes—such as PEM piping—an internal support sleeve must always be used. This sleeve prevents the pipe from collapsing under the clamping force and ensures a long-lasting, leak-proof connection.
- Threaded adapters: Check whether the connection to an existing valve, water meter bracket, or pump requires internal or external pipe threads.
- Compensation sleeves: When performing renovations or working with older types of piping—such as PEL (polyethylene) pipe—special compensation sleeves and compression nuts should be used to ensure a proper fit and effective clamping action.
Installation for long-term operational reliability
A correctly executed installation is the foundation of a leak-free system. The pipe must always be cut squarely and deburred prior to assembly. Insert an appropriate support sleeve into the end of the pipe, push the pipe fully into the fitting until it reaches the bottom, and tighten the nut using a suitable adjustable wrench or pipe wrench until it reaches the flange, in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions. Since the fitting is designed to withstand high pressure and external stress, the trench can be safely backfilled once pressure testing has been successfully completed.
