Water safety kitchen & environment

What is required for a water-safe kitchen?

  • Drip trays: Must be installed under dishwashers, refrigerators, freezers, wine coolers, and other water-connected appliances.
  • Waterproof liner: Required inside the sink cabinet, with seals around pipe and hose penetrations.
  • Moisture sensors: Must be permanently installed and connected to a water alarm or leak shut-off device.
  • Active protection: A water alarm warns in case of leakage, while a leak shut-off device automatically turns off the water supply.

The sink cabinet is a particularly vulnerable area in the kitchen and must therefore always be equipped with a waterproof liner and a permanently installed sensor. When replacing appliances, installing new equipment, or renovating a kitchen, the new regulations must be followed.
